Open your eyes! Don't worry, it's not a dream, it's really true: the sun-blessed Carezza-Karersee ski resort, between the Catinaccio and Latemar massifs, is quite an incredible place. Winter sports enthusiasts have a choice of 40 km of exciting slopes and 20 refuges, and can enjoy some amazing views during their descent, with the snow-covered peaks of Catinaccio and the Dolomites.

Right at the top of the Catinaccio massif (2,237 m) is the highest scenic restaurant in South Tyrol, the "Laurins Lounge". It's a welcoming place where you can get warm, have a rest, and sample the tasty cooking on offer in the refuge. By the way: did you know that the Carezza ski resort has been in existence since the 1950s, and was then one of the first ski resorts in South Tyrol and throughout the Alps?

Riding to the ski area in the cabrio cable car

Heading up to the summit with the wind in your hair. It sounds odd, but you really can do this at Tires al Catinaccio. The first cabrio cable car in Italy was inaugurated right here, in February 2022. The cable car leaves from San Cipriano, just 200 metres from Hotel Stefaner, and climbs for 3.8 km to the Frommer mountain hut in the Carezza ski and hiking area. All types of tickets are available at the bottom station, from day tickets to ski passes.

So what is the "cabrio" cable car? Well, if you wish (and if you don't suffer from vertigo), you can sit on the small open deck on the top level of the cable car. That unique feeling of the wind in your hair, while observing the spectacular view of the Rosengarten, makes the ride in the cabrio cable car a truly special experience.
